PREP - GRADE 1:
This activity could be used as a teaching resource in the grade prep-1 area as students could wear characters names on their heads and they would need to ask questions to discover the identity of their character. It would encourage problem solving skills and also would provide evidence as to what the students understood from the text and if they are able to make meaning from it.
This activity would be a fantastic English lesson as it is encouraging handwriting but doing so in a fun and interactive way. Students could trace over the words, practicing individual letters, whilst still remaining engaged as the activity is Beauty and the Beast themed. Students could watch the movie before conducting a unit of work on this topic.
GRADE 2 - GRADE 4:
This is a fantastic activity for students in grade 2 - grade 4. This is because it is both challenging yet achievable for students. Students could take on the persona of one of the characters in the movie and discuss how they would feel and what their individual role is in the movie. This activity would be a great way to analyse student understanding of the film whilst engaging and motivating students. To lead on from this activity, students could write a diary entry as if they were this character and explain how they would feel, but in diary entry form.
GRADE 4 - GRADE 6:
This activity; 'Beauty and the Beast' book/movie review, could be used as a teaching resource in the upper level of primary school. Reasons supporting this include, given that it is a book/movie review, some students may not have taken much meaning from this text while watching/reading it, therefore providing a visual stimulus to physical write down what they know or have learnt from the movie/book would be a great way to analyse students learning and understanding and provide an avenue for you on what you need to teach students in the future.
