THE ENCHANTED MIRROR:
“Ashamed of his monstrous form, the Beast concealed himself inside his castle, with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world.”
―Narrator
The enchanted mirror appears as any old mirror. It is bluish silver and has detailed and lovely detail around its bordering. The enchanted mirror allows the user to see anything that he or she desires. It is somewhat presumed in the movie that the enchantress gave the Beast the enchanted mirror as it was his only window to the outside world. We are unsure if the prince possessed this mirror before being placed under the enchantresses spell or whether it became enchanted along with all the other objects and people within the castle.
The Beast first used the mirror to see Belle in her room. This is where he overhears a conversation that the Beast has with the wardrobe about how much she resents the Beast. After hearing this disappointing news, the Beast fears that Belle will never love him and he loses hope that Belle will want anything to do with him.
As the Beast and Belle grow closer together, the Beast lets Belle use the enchanted mirror. Belle sees her father dying in the woods, ad with only hours before the rose will completely wilt, the Beast allows her to leave. The Beast gives belle the mirror so that she can still see and remember him.
Shortly after Belle rescues her father, she uses the enchanted mirror to show the enraged villagers that the Beast exists and her father is not insane. Gaston becomes furious and snatches the mirror from Belle and shows the Beasts reflection to stir up the angry villagers. Gaston carries the mirror all the way to the castle, then the mirror disappears.
It is presumed that Mrs Potts or another castle helpers finds the mirrors, or that the enchantress takes the enchanted mirror back as it is no longer needed when the Beast transforms back to his original form as a prince.
