GASTON:
“He's handsome, all right, and rude and conceited! Oh, Papa, he's not for me.”
―Belle expressing her dislike for Gaston to her father
Gaston is an extremely athletic man with a strong build which demonstrates tremendous strength. He has a cleft chin and an attractive appearance. He is desired by mostly all the women throughout the village and is the envy of most men throughout the township. He is completely aware of his fortunate looks and strength and is very popular, this just fuels his ego even further. Gaston believes that he is superior to everyone else and is extremely arrogant. He is quite cunning and devious and he is most certainly not all 'brawn and no brain'. He devises a clever plan to get Belle to marry him by threatening to have her father thrown into an asylum, and when that does not work he turns the villagers against Belle and the Beast and storms the castle.
Gaston is quite sexist and believes that girls should not think. This is evident when he says
"Belle, it's about time that you got your head out of those books and paid attention to more important things.... like me!"
Gaston is extremely shallow and only desires Belle because of her looks, and assumes the Beast is a monster solely on his looks as well. Gaston possess the mindset that if he cannot have Belle, then no one can!
