“The Casanova of all candelabras. He is a suave, vivacious gentleman and as any gracious host would, treats Belle with warmth and to a spectacular show-stopping number, "Be Our Guest". He is instrumental in helping Belle and Beast fall in love.”―Diamond Editon Website
Lumiere (which means 'light' in French) is a man who was turned into a candlestick and speaks with a French accent. The Beast and Lumiere have a close relationship, and next to Belle, Lumiere is the Beasts best friend, as the Beast often turns to him for advice. After the spell is broken at the end of the movie, Lumiere transforms back to his original human form.
Lumiere can be described as a kind hearted, sweet romantic, servant to the Beast. He often however can be quite rebellious and goes against the Beasts rules as he thinks he know whats best. His friendship with best friend, Cogsworth is often strained as the two disagree on numerous things as Cogsworth likes to abide by the Beasts rules.
Disney also portray Lumiere as a heartthrob and a lady's man. He has a relationship with Babette and also he is sought out from the Beast for relationship advice. He is quite flirtatious with Babette and is quite knowledgable on romance. He recommended to the Beast that he show Belle the library as he knew that she had a love of books.
The most notable scene with Lumiere present throughout Disney's Beauty and the Beast, is the scene around the dinner table where Lumiere welcomes Belle to the castle by singing 'Be Our Guest'. This is a spectacular show where dinner plates, candles and bottles of wine create a magical show for Belle.
